01 Overview & Our Privacy Commitment
SubSift ("we", "our", or "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy and giving you complete ownership over your financial data. SubSift is architected as a local-first application, meaning your subscription tracking data remains on your local browser cache (`localStorage` or IndexedDB) or inside your private personal Google Drive folder.
02 Information We Do NOT Collect
Because SubSift operates locally on your device:
- We do not collect your bank accounts, credit card numbers, or login passwords.
- We do not maintain a central cloud database storing your subscription names or billing dates.
- We do not sell, lease, or monetize your subscription details.
- We do not use invasive third-party tracking pixels or cross-site behavioral tracking scripts.
03 Google Drive Integration & Data Permissions
SubSift offers optional Cloud Backup & Restore powered by Google Drive. When you choose to use Google Drive backup:

SubSift requests access strictly to its own isolated application data folder (appDataFolder) inside your personal Google Drive account.
- SubSift can only create, read, and update its own backup file (
backup.json). - SubSift has zero access to your personal documents, photos, or files stored on your Google Drive.
- All OAuth tokens are handled securely via Google Identity Services and are stored locally on your device.
04 Penny AI Companion & External AI Queries
SubSift includes Penny AI Companion to assist with managing subscriptions, finding deals, and answering savings questions:
- Local Commands: Quick actions (such as "Add Netflix $22.99" or "Delete Crave") are parsed instantly on your device inside your browser.
- External AI & Deal Searches: When you ask Penny conversational questions, request savings tips, or search for current promo deals, your text prompt is transmitted via secure encrypted HTTPS to Google's Gemini AI service to generate a response.
- Privacy Protection: Prompts are strictly transmitted to answer your specific query. SubSift does not attach personal credentials or tracking identifiers to AI requests, and prompt data is never sold to advertisers.
- Optional Toggle: You can completely disable Penny AI at any time in Settings.
05 Your Controls & Data Portability
You maintain complete control over your data at all times:
- Export Data: You can download a complete JSON export of all your subscription records at any time from Settings.
- Delete Data: You can clear your local database cache in Settings or delete your Google Drive backup file directly from your Google Account.
- Revoke Google Access: You can revoke SubSift's Google Drive access at any time via your Google Account Permissions.
